Been working through a few things. Nothing too big to talk about. But let’s just say I’m well. Nice to know who you are and who you aren’t. Just remember, just because the environment you came from was dysfunctional, it doesn’t mean you are. Goodbye past. Don’t let the door kick you in the ass on the way out.
Saw a really good, life size copy of the shroud of turin. Took some cool pics. A few things bothered me. I believe it is a fake. A scam. Too many reasons. But here are a few. Too perfect. Whip marks. Scars. Crown of thorns. Nail marks. However, big point number one was his height. 5’11”. People just were not that tall back then. And here’s the big one. Take a good look. Artists always give away some clue on their influences. And disagree if you must but…the hands are conveniently placed covering the genitalia. Yup. No one got laid out like that who was to be covered. Didn’t matter if he was covered. Checkout other bodies found. Skeletons. In crypts. Sorry to be crude but: No junk…no Jesus. Now back to my guitar playing reality.
#ShroudOfTurin and Me…that’s a Shrelfie! But a seriously cool life size replica of the shroud….it’s enhanced to see detail. But pretty cool to see it up close!

i miss you bro
Latest realization: I never wanted to be a guitarist along the lines of a virtuoso. Vai, Govan, Greg Howe. All some of my favorites. But I was raised on Tony Mottola, James Burton and Chuck Berry. These were my childhood heroes. My Dad fed me music that I read out of books. Notation. I was later influenced by all the Rock, Fusion and Jazz guys who came up in the 70’s, but my roots were solid.
I am currently writing, arranging, notating my various works. Compositionally they are all over the map in style, but remain melodic. Chops and technically difficult passages, along with areas properly arranged for improvisation are included. But only where deemed appropriate.
The next step is to attempt as perfect a sonic representation without sacrificing feel. Hoping to use other musicians where I feel it correct to do so and won’t slow me down.
Back to it!
Tonight I had a real eye opener. One more obstacle uncovered that needs to be quickly addressed. (Keeping this one to myself, for now.) How many more layers need to be dealt with? We’ll see.
But my playing is seriously getting back in shape. Faster than expected.
Oh…one more thing. Discovered that I need my amps and video stuff all ready to go. Found myself playing pretty good and thought I would do a quick video. By the time everything was setup I lost all the juice that I wanted to get recorded. Will take care of that situation immediately.
Till next time.
Now that I am recreating myself as a guitarist, seriously cool memories are flooding back.
When I was 16 or so, I decided I would sightread as many melodies as possible. This would give me a finely honed melodic sense which would come in handy while soloing. It did. It has. But I need to connect back to those melodies. Good melodies. Real compositions. I’ll be adding this into my practice regimen starting today.
Going right back to my roots.
I was happy then. Getting happier now.
